About Me

Twenty years ago I asked a Tarot card reader what would I be doing when I was 50. She replied, “I see you doing something so wildly creative, it defies a job title.” Only recently did I realize that was a slick way of saying, “I have no idea of what you’ll be doing.” But that prediction kept me charging ahead to the fifties with zeal and anticipation. Now that the future is today, I’m ready for anything!

Everyone Needs an "Awwwww" Moment

Last week's rare birth of a zedonk, or a cross between a zebra and a donkey, still has the Twitterverse melting in a pool of cuddly animal love. It made me remember a photo of a hybrid on our own farm. I snapped it four years ago with a disposable camera, a totally unexpected shot, and it's still one of my favorites. The mule's name is Sourdough; her mom is Macy, a mini-horse. The dad, or the sire, is a mini-donkey named Little Joe. We estimate the foal, or baby, is 12 hours old.
